The new lab offers ballast water testing for the more than 70,000 oceangoing vessels calling at ports in Japan.
Our new marine laboratory in Yokohama, Japan opened on August 15, 2023. It offers ballast water testing according to the US EPA Vessel General Permit (VGP), at competitive prices, for the more than 70,000 oceangoing vessels calling at ports in Japan.
The lab also provides IMO D-2 testing and asbestos testing (ISO and EPA), and there are plans to expand testing to other areas.
Currently, SGS’s marine team in Japan consists of five members, although hiring for additional staff is underway.
