MoIAT launches ECAS Certification for Child Care Products

Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), the federal authority in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for regulating the quality of products being imported and manufactured in the country, has now included certification of childcare articles like feeding bottles, soothers, diapers, etc. under the scheme of Emirates Conformity Assessment.

This certification scheme includes the below product categories:

  • Re-usable feeding teats and drinking accessories
  • Re-usable feeding bottles and drinking cups
  • Single-use feeding bottles, feeding teats, feeding bags
  • Soother for babies and young children
  • Cutlery and feeding utensils designed for the use of children from the average age of weaning (six months) to three years of age
  • Single use disposable baby diapers

SGS Gulf Limited is a notified body with MoIAT for the certification of widest product scope in the region under:

  • Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS)
    Applicable for regulated products under electrical, mechanical, chemical and food categories (valid for one year)

  • Emirates Quality Mark (EQM)
    Mandatory for bottled drinking water, juices & dairy, etc. ; voluntary certification and mark can be availed across categories (valid for three years)
  • HALAL Certification & Mark
    Can be availed across food & Beverages (plant & animal origin), poultry, dairy, cosmetics, personal care, chemicals, processes, restaurants & kitchens (valid for three years)
